About the artist
Luly Leal, a.k.a. Luly’s Joy, is a cancer survivor majored in Telecommunications Engineering and a self-made emerging artist, born in Mexico and now a Canadian citizen living in Toronto.
She started her art journey with photography, which quickly moved into the abstract side of it by turning images into digital paintings with the help of lenses and Photoshop. Then she ventured painting on the walls, to finally painting abstracts on canvas.
Most of her paintings are done in an intuitive manner, where she channels her emotions to express what can’t be better explained with words, which is the reason why her art is part of her healing process and her way to find joy in her life.
The ultimate goal of her art is to inspire others to be their own source of happiness, peace, freedom, love, and joy, regardless of the circumstances they might be going through, because if she was able to survive cancer while facing it on her own and still find a way to be happy, then anyone else can do the same too!
Most of my paintings are done intuitively. What I mean by it is I usually have an emotion about a situation that makes my brain overthink, then I go to the canvas and just let it all out throughout the painting.
The paintings usually take shape and direction on their own. This process leads me to believe it's either my unconscious mind or my soul expressing those emotions through color.
When I finally feel the painting is done, I take some time to analyze the hidden message of the painting so I can understand myself better and heal whatever old wound was discovered in this process.
